Are you a passionate cook with a background in catering? Do you take pride in preparing nutritious, delicious meals that bring people together? We’re looking for a dedicated Cook to join our academy team and help fuel young minds with healthy, balanced meals every day.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking someone with hands-on experience in food preparation—ideally in a school, nursery, or youth-focused setting. If you’re used to working in busy kitchens, love creating meals that meet dietary needs, and enjoy being part of a supportive team, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals for our students, ensuring high standards of hygiene and presentation.
Maintain a clean, well-organised kitchen, including stock control and food safety compliance.
Plan and serve balanced menus that support the health and wellbeing of children and young people.
Encourage a positive dining experience that promotes independence, confidence, and inclusion among pupils.

What You’ll Bring:

A strong background in catering or cooking, with a passion for preparing meals that make a difference.
Great teamwork and communication skills.

About the Academy

Restormel Academy is based in St. Austell in Mid-Cornwall; a region that includes some of the most socially and economically deprived areas within Cornwall.

The Academy provides a warm, caring and individualised learning experience for pupils whose behaviour has hindered their progress in mainstream school. We strive to re-engage our pupils with learning, by maintaining a calm working atmosphere, and supporting positive change in the way our pupils choose to behave.

We provide places for those young people who have been permanently excluded from school, or who are on intervention programmes because of their behaviour.

Who We Are

Wave are an established and successful Multi Academy Trust, comprising of Alternative Provision Academies (APAs), Medical Academies (including Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s child and adolescent mental health unit ‘Sowenna’) and a Special Academy.

We provide education for vulnerable pupils aged 4 – 19 across Devon and Cornwall.
