Expected Start Date September 26 or sooner

We are seeking an exceptional strategic leader to join our Trust as the Director of Safeguarding, Attendance and Behaviour — a role with responsibility for shaping and securing the highest standards of safeguarding, behaviour, attendance and pastoral practice across all our academies.

As a member of the Trust’s leadership team, the postholder will provide decisive  leadership and professional oversight, ensuring our statutory duties are met and that inclusive, child‑centred practice is consistently embedded. This role carries significant responsibility for safeguarding our most vulnerable pupils, driving improvements in culture and practice, and enabling every learner to feel safe, supported and able to thrive.

The Director will lead the Trust‑wide strategic development, implementation and evaluation of safeguarding, behaviour and attendance, setting clear expectations and holding leaders to account for impact. Acting as the Trust’s professional authority in these areas, they will advise the CEO, Executive Team and Trustees, maintain oversight of Trust‑level risk, and ensure robust assurance and reporting.

With strategic leadership spanning safeguarding, child protection, behaviour frameworks, attendance strategy, inclusion and vulnerable learners, this role offers the opportunity to influence practice at scale and drive meaningful, system‑wide improvement.

The successful applicant will be someone who embodies our Trust values, has diverse experience, as well as a passion for working with young people with additional needs.

For a full list of duties, please see the job description below.

Wave is dedicated to the safeguarding of children and Safer Recruitment Procedures will be followed.  The position requires a satisfactory enhanced DBS check and we may carry out an online check.

We may close this vacancy early as we review applications as they are received, to ensure you are considered for this role, please do not wait for the deadline to submit your application.
